C.A.M.E.L.

C.A.M.E.L. (Care and Massage Eases Lymphoedema) is a friendly self-help group that meets every six weeks in Shornells (our Day Care facility) at the Hospice and where you will have the chance to have a really good natter and make new friends while receiving support to help you manage your condition.

C.A.M.E.L. provides support if you suffer from primary or secondary lymphoedema by advising you on non-clinical matters and offers encouragement to help you understand your condition better.  The group is organised by a patient committee and is supported by the Lymphoedema Nurse Specialists.

We encourage patients to achieve the four cornerstones of Lymphoedema Management:

  • simple lymphatic draining
  • exercise
  • skin care
  • compression hosiery.

Guest speakers are invited whenever possible which is very beneficial to all and significant knowledge is gained.

The group supports the Hospice by raising money from raffles and refreshments at the meetings as well as at social events, e.g. Quiz Nights, Race Nights and Discos.

I cannot thank you enough for the outstanding care given to me, my family and of course my husband before he died. You are all angels.
