Bexley residents host a right royal wedding party
29 April 2011
First Avenue residents and friends hosted a street party to celebrate the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton. The day attracted around 350 people who collectively raised £1,200 for Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice.
"Street parties are a great tradition which have for a century been linked with royal events" said Community Fundraiser, Julie Lawrie-Raison. Our Hospice sits at the heart of the Greenwich and Bexley communities and we're absolutely delighted that the residents chose to raise money for us in such a fun and sociable way.
First Avenue street party was organised by Lucky Parker, Emma Wood, Lisa & David Rutherford, Zoe Paine, Patt Potts and Sean Prendergast.
Mum of four, Lucy Parker said, "We chose to support the Hospice because it is our local charity. A few of us have had family members that have benefited from the services the Hospice provides."
