Bexley Bus to promote Carers' Week in the Broadway

16 June 2011

The bus will be in the Broadway, Bexleyheath on Thursday 16 June between 9 am and 5 pm.

The bus will be manned by Hospice staff and volunteers who will share information and give advice to anyone who wants to know more about the needs of carers and the support available to them. A volunteer with knowledge of welfare rights and benefits will be available between 12 noon and 4 pm to provide advice and assistance.

Anthony Boland, Head of Social, Psychological and Spiritual Care at the Hospice said, “It can be quite a challenge for people who care for someone to recognise and acknowledge that their role is often unrelenting and exhausting and that they have their own needs. If carers access support and advice, this can help them continue to care for their loved one and make life as manageable as possible for them.”

Carers Week is promoted by Carers UK and annually recognises and celebrates the contribution made by UK’s six million carers in the community.

This year, the theme for the week is ‘The True Face of Carers’. It calls for greater recognition for the diverse range of people who give up their time, money and health to look after somebody else and is supported by many famous celebrities with caring experience, including British actor, Sir David Jason.

I cannot thank you enough for the outstanding care given to me, my family and of course my husband before he died. You are all angels.
