The Hospice warmly welcomed 82 year old Veteran of the Year, Ron Mason when he popped in to the Hospice to meet the staff.

Ron, who was named Veteran of the Year at Armed Forces Day earlier this year, completed a ten-mile sponsored walk for the Hospice in May 2011 and raised £1,125. The Veteran of the Year Award was presented to Ron in recognition of his excellent commitment and continued support to the Hospice.

Ron has supported the Hospice since it started raising funds over 25 years ago, and said: “The sponsored walk was a bit of a challenge but it was great to do it. I’m delighted with the amount raised.”

Ron will continue to fundraise for the Hospice over the coming months, starting with bucket collections at his weekly coffee mornings and a static bike challenge at Greenwich Cutty Sark on Sunday, 2nd October during the annual Sponsored Cycle.

Stephanie Fuller, Community Fundraising Manager at the Hospice, said: “On behalf of everyone at Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice, I would like to thank Ron for his tremendous support, he truly is an inspiration.”
