Respite Care
The Hospice offers respite care in a variety of forms to meet your loved ones needs and aims to give you a break from caring and can often help to keep your relative at home by preventing a crisis and providing planned breaks.
Respite care is the provision of short-term, temporary relief to those who are caring for family members or friends, by giving these breaks either planned or in response to changes in circumstance; we aim to support and maintain you and your relative's relationship.
Even though many families take great joy in providing care to their loved ones so that they can remain at home, the physical, emotional and financial consequences for informal carers can be overwhelming without some support. Respite can provide you with a much needed temporary break from the often exhausting challenges you may face.
You can access regular respite care here at the Hospice in Shornells, our Day Care facility, or for a short stay in Woodlands, our inpatient unit.
You can contact the service on 020 8320 5820 for an informal discussion or referrals can be made via your GP, Hospital Consultant or Nurse.
