Spiritual Care

Many people find coping with a life-limiting illness raises a variety of questions including the meaning of life, suffering, death and after-life. The anxiety evoked by dealing with these issues is sometimes called spiritual pain.   We recognise that there are a variety of ways in which people respond to spiritual pain.  Some people will receive comfort from within their faith community, while others may not be of any religious persuasion.   All Hospice staff recognise this pain as coming from the deepest place within us and are committed to responding to the spiritual need of our patients, family and friends in whatever way it may present itself.

Our Chaplaincy Team is an integral part of our service and comprises of representatives from a variety of denominations. We are committed to strengthening links with representatives of other faith communities.  If you would like to see a faith leader or member of the Chaplaincy Team during your stay, please let us know.  The service is led by our Head of Social, Psychological and Spiritual Care alongside our Coordinating Chaplain.

The Haven offers a quiet space for reflection and is available for everyone of all faiths or none. If you require ablution facilities, these are available adjacent to the reception area. Weekly services, Holy Communion, personal prayers, prayers at the bedside and special services are offered.  If you have a particular need, please ask as services can be arranged at other times.

We welcome feedback on our services, good and bad. Please download and complete our Comments and Compliments form here.

The care is second to none, it is like a 5 star hotel here.
