What to Expect During Your Day

You will receive a warm welcome with plenty of time to sit and chat and enjoy the company of staff, volunteers and other patients.  Shornells is a meeting place, a focus for mutual support and shared experiences.  There is laughter and friendship, but it is also possible to be quiet and restful.

The day usually starts at 10 am and finishes around 3 pm. Lunch is included each day and you choose your meal from the menu and if required our Chef can cater for special diets and cultural needs. You can even enjoy a pre-lunch alcoholic beverage.

During the day you choose how to spend your time.  You can enjoy a facial massage, a relaxing therapy, just sit in the company of friends, enjoy the gardens or sit in the quiet room with soft lights and music.  There are arts and crafts or you can join in group activities such as bingo, creative writing, board games or card games.

If you are taken ill during the day you will be seen by a nurse and a doctor who will ensure you are comfortable.

A brilliant day for all the family. We had a really great time at the Hospice Cycle ride in October.
