Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice (GBCH) celebrated this week as Hospice CEO, Kate Heaps was shortlisted for a prestigious Third Sector Award in the category of Charity Chief Executive of the Year. The awards recognise the achievements of charities and talents nationwide. 

In the last 12 months, Kate has been praised as an outstanding and inspiring leader who, with clarity of vision has driven the organisation to achieve positive results. She empowers her team and inspires colleagues and peers alike to work innovatively and in collaboration, towards a common purpose.  

In a year where the hospice continued to face the challenges of the pandemic, Kate steered GBCH with compassion, foresight and focus setting strong foundations for the future as it embarks on a new five-year strategy that will see the hospice continue to improve its services for the people of Greenwich and Bexley. Kate is well respected by strategic partners and the hospice team for her commitment, foresight and empathy. 

Kate said “I’m thrilled to have been nominated for a Third Sector Award. I am so proud to represent the hospice at a time when our care is needed more than ever. This recognition makes me more determined to do the best I can, and I can only do it with the amazing team we have, who make my job a pleasure, even in the hardest of times.” 

This year’s Third Sector Awards ceremony will take place on 30 September in London.
