Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice’s retail division is responsible for generating income to support the Hospice’s work in providing end of life care across the Boroughs of Greenwich & Bexley.
Following the initiation of a collaborative project with the Royal Borough of Greenwich, an opportunity has arisen for a proactive and creative person who will be responsible for assisting the Workshop Manager with the development of the RePurpose: the shop and workshop at the Nathan Way Refuse Facility.
This is an exciting role that will help us shape a new and innovative way of recycling preloved items and maximising income to support the vital services delivered by the Hospice.
You will be responsible for a stock identification process of items being disposed of at the unit, to be resold, upcycled, PAT tested or repaired, adhering to strict Health and Safety procedure. Working alongside volunteers within a physically demanding environment, the successful applicant will have experience in supervising volunteers with previous workshop, relevant trade or warehouse background. Understanding of charity retail and upcycling is desirable.
You will have good verbal and written communication skills, and a good working knowledge of Health and Safety in a workshop environment, and have an ability to work to deadline and prioritise appropriately in a fast moving retail environment.
