Location: Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice, 185 Bostall Hill, Abbey Wood, SE2
Salary: Band 6/7
Closing Date: December 8, 2019
Full time, job share/part time, secondment may be possible
Exciting opportunities are arising in both the Community and Hospital Palliative Care Teams. The Community Team is based at the Hospice in Abbey Wood and the Hospital Team is based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich, both are part of Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice.
Ideally you will have a strong background in palliative care nursing and have a relevant degree or else be studying towards one at the moment. However, you may have experience in related areas of clinical practice, such as caring for people with dementia or other life limiting illnesses, frailty, the care of elderly people, or oncology, which would complement the skills of our current Teams.
You should be a reflective practitioner with sound communication and interpersonal skills, able to work on your own initiative as well as integrating successfully into the Teams.
By supporting the hospital and community staff who are caring for patients nearing the end of their lives, we aim to bring elements of hospice care into t wards, care homes and patients’ own home. We help in managing people’s symptoms, addressing their emotional, social and practical needs as well as supporting their family and carers and linking them to other care and support.
Both Teams will be working as seven day services: service hours will cover Monday to Sunday, 9-5. Weekend working will be approximately 1 in 4. A 24 hour call rota is operated in the community.
If you think you are equipped to help us meet these exciting challenges, please get in touch and discuss further on the contact telephone number/email below
The Hospice is committed to the development and education of all its staff, so there are excellent opportunities for professional development. We have educational links with local higher education institutions and we also offer clinical supervision.
