Following the initiation of a collaborative project with the Royal Borough of Greenwich, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced workshop manager who will be responsible for the management of the workshop and retail outlet at the Nathan Way Reuse Facility for the benefit of Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice.
You will ensure that good quality saleable stock is identified for resale, upcycling or repair, and will manage the distribution of stock to onsite retail outlet and all hospice furniture/electrical shops to meet a retail budget. The post holder will line manage, instruct, support and guide the workshop staff and volunteers.
You will organise and manage a full stock identification process of items being disposed of at the unit, to be resold, upcycled, PAT tested or repaired, adhering to strict Health and Safety procedure. You will be responsible for managing stock for distribution to appropriate shops within the retail network, maximising income from goods secured to support the Services delivered by the Hospice.
Working alongside volunteers within a physically demanding environment, the successful applicant will have experience in line management of both staff and volunteers with previous workshop, relevant trade or warehouse experience, as well as an understanding of Charity Retail and upcycling; enabling the workshop function to support the achievement of the income target for the retail network.
You will have good verbal and written communication skills, and a good working knowledge of Health and Safety in a workshop environment, and have an ability to work to deadline and prioritise appropriately in a fast moving retail environment.
Previous experience within the Charitable Sector would be advantageous, with an income target to achieve, alongside a demonstrable record of innovation to enable the identification and delivery of new income generation initiatives within the retail network.
