Salary: GBCH Band 6 £34,714.03 – £45,500.15 per annum

Hours per week: 35

Job Summary

Our hospice was founded by two passionate volunteers who believed that their local community needed a hospice. Over the past thirty years, we have delivered care to thousands of local people each year – with volunteers and the support of the community playing a critical role in helping us to be able to help people at the end of life.

You will help us to build on our legacy by ensuring that our volunteering programme continues to play an important and growing role within the hospice, supporting every area from serving customers in our network of shops, marshalling fundraising events and tending to our beautiful gardens, through to providing a warm and compassionate welcome to those visiting our hospice, providing admin and clerical support in our offices and being a friend to those who are lonely or isolated. You will support our staff to make our volunteers’ experience all they can be, whilst enabling more people from communities starting their engagement journey with the hospice to experience the rewards that volunteering brings.

We are looking for a Volunteer Development Manager to help us to drive our volunteer programme forward.

Volunteer Development Manager 

Full time (35 hours per week – flexible working requests considered)

This is a hugely exciting time to join our team, with a bold new brand soon to be launched, providing the perfect platform to amplify the work we are already doing. For the first time, we are working to a dedicated sub-strategy that outlines our vision for collaborating with our volunteers and our communities to strengthen the role of the hospice throughout Greenwich and Bexley.

As Volunteer Development Manager, you will build upon our recent successes, like our Compassionate Neighbours and Young Ward Volunteer programmes and draw on the valuable lessons we learned during the pandemic to drive innovation and deliver sustainable opportunities that contribute towards our ongoing success. You will support the review, development and communication of robust, proportionate and engaging volunteering systems and policies, as well as being the go-to person for queries relating to volunteering matters. You will work with our Volunteer Coordinator to ensure that our volunteering opportunities reach a wide audience and that peoples’ skills, experiences and passions are steered to areas of the hospice where they can contribute.
