Trustee

(Unremunerated)

Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice is a registered charity that provides specialist palliative and end of life care in its Hospice building in South East London, in the community in people’s homes, care homes and local prisons and at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich. We currently serve a population of around 500,000 people and provide round the clock support for over 2,500 patients and their families each year. More information about the charity can be found on our website www.communityhospice.org.uk

We are seeking a new Trustee with specific experience to complement the present ten members of the Board of the Hospice, helping us develop and support the implementation of strategy to ensure that the organisation continues to meet the needs of people facing the end of life in the London boroughs of Greenwich and Bexley.

We are keen to attract applications from people with a background in finance to aid in succession planning for our current Treasurer. As an experienced qualified accountant, as well as being a member of the Board you will be requested to join our Finance Committee and also provide guidance to the Chief Executive and Head of Finance.

The Board of Trustees meets monthly at the Hospice in Abbey Wood, South East London. One meeting is usually held at a Board “away day” each year. Our Finance Committee also meets monthly for approximately two hours. You will also be asked to attend at least two fundraising events each year, as well as the Annual Public Meeting and to undertake Trustee visits as part of our internal review programme.

This interesting and rewarding Trustee role includes many opportunities between meetings to work with staff and influence the strategic direction of the charity.

If you are a motivated team player with sound judgment and the experience we require and can devote the necessary time and commitment to the Hospice’s mission and values we would be delighted to hear from you.

If you would like to discuss the position in more detail or to apply, please send your CV and a covering letter outlining your suitability for the post and describing your motivation for applying to become a Trustee to:-
