How to write a Will

Making a Will is usually straightforward and inexpensive. We encourage you to seek legal advice when writing or updating your Will.

How to remember the hospice in your Will

We understand that caring for your family is a priority. However, after taking care of your loved ones in your Will, you can include Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice among other charitable causes. We have included below suggested wording if you decide to remember us.

If you are leaving a share of your estate in your will (Residual legacy)

I give to Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice of 185 Bostall Hill, Abbey Wood, London, SE2 0GB registered charity number 1017406 [all/ __% of the residue] of my estate absolutely for its general charitable purposes and I declare that the receipt of the Legacy Administration Manager or other proper officer at the Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice for the time being shall be a sufficient discharge to my executor(s).

To leave a cash gift (a pecuniary gift) use this wording

I give to Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice of 185 Bostall Hill, Abbey Wood, London, SE2 0GB registered charity number 1017406 [£x specify words and figures] free of tax for its general charitable purposes and I declare that the receipt of the Legacy Administration Manager or other proper officer at Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice for the time being shall be a sufficient discharge to my executor(s).

If you already have a Will and would like to add a gift to Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice, you need to add a codicil to your latest Will. A codicil is a supplement to the Will that can make changes and allow additions to that Will.

Should you choose to execute a codicil, it is important that it is properly signed and witnessed.
