Information on the planned RCN Strike action and impact on hospice services

The planned strikes by the Royal College of Nursing are unprecedented as it is the first time that its members have voted for UK-wide industrial action.

The dispute is between the RCN and NHS employers.

Therefore, the hospice’s nursing team will not be taking industrial action and so we would like to reassure all of our patients and their families that our services will continue as usual.

Whilst our team will not be taking strike action, we are aware that some of our colleagues and partner organisations may be impacted and we will continue to work with external colleagues to ensure the safety of our patients across the boroughs of Greenwich and Bexley.

The wellbeing of all of our staff has always been important to us, and has been in even sharper focus for the hospice in difficult times, during the pandemic and through the current cost of living crisis. With this in mind, we continue to listen and respond to concerns and adapt our plans where necessary, to support our staff in any way that we can.

As with all of the nursing profession, the priority of the hospice and our nursing team is always to deliver consistently high standards of care and support to patients and to continue to be there whenever we are needed.
